Video – Danny MacAskill at the Edinburgh Festival

Danny MacAskill performed to massive city centre crowds at this year's Edinburgh Festival

Legendary stunt cyclist, Danny MacAskill performed to huge city centre crowds at this year’s Edinburgh Festival. The 26-year-old trials rider from Skye / Glasgow took part in a live display of his infamous gravity-pwning MTB stunts at Scotland’s premier arts festival on Monday.
-
Scores of onlookers packed the streets around the temporary stunt park that had been created to showcase Danny’s talents. The audience was not disappointed as they were treated to some epic feats of bicycle-acrobatics.
-
Danny MacAskill has a long established relationship with Edinburgh. The ancient city was the starting point for MacAskill’s opus magnus, The Way Back Home, an insanely successful Youtube edit that has racked-up over 20 million views in under two years.
-
The inclusion of stunt MTB at this year’s Edinburgh Festival follows up on previous decisions to include other countercultural sports, such as parkour, at the event. Although these additions have not always been welcome (especially by purist festival goers), for the most part they have been well received by the general public. Festival organisers felt that whilst Danny MacAskill’s reinterpretation of the city’s space was not strictly art, it was highly artistic and therefore deserved to be included.
