Tim Brabants, the reigning Kayak Singles 1000m Sprint Olympic champion has made it through to the finals of this event at London 2012. Brabants, who was world Champion in 2007 and took the gold medal at Beijing 2008, made it through to Wednesday’s final following a fiercely fought set of opening heats and equally ferocious semifinals. Hopes of a Team GB medal in the Canoe Single (C1) Slalom event were dashed today when British paddler and world Number One, David Florence, was knocked out in the semi-finals. The Scottish Olympian, who took a silver in Beijing in 2008 and won the Gold at the World Cup in Cardiff this year, achieved a disappointing 106.16 score, which saw him ranked in tenth position, two places outside the top-eight...

McKeever smashes k1 200m canoe sprint record a head of Championship finals! Ed McKeever, one of Great Britain’s brightest Olympic hopes, has smashed the 200 meter canoe sprint record at the World Championships at Szeged this weekend. McKeever, who took the crown for the 200 meter sprint at last year’s competition, finished very comfortably in first place at today’s semi-finals....
