Swag Freerun and Nokia Join Forces.

British Freerunning team, Swag Freerun, has teamed up with Nokia to bring their fans and followers the next installment of parkour fuelled madness. The group of five traceurs were asked by the communications giant to test out the filming capabilities of their new Lumia 800 phone.

The final product was a minute-long video edit showcasing the guys in action, performing their acrobatic stunts at various locations across England. To say that Nokia was impressed is an understatement. On the Nokia Connects website the boys were described as “awe-inspiring” and their video was tweeted out to over 300,000 people across the globe.

Swag Freerun was founded in 2011 by Toby Walter. The five members are Toby, Tom Vance, Matthew Martin, Joe Strange and Mike Dunk. The group’s debut video edit was released a few weeks ago and attracted high praise from some of the world’s leading freerunners.

I’d love to know where they shot that, because the abandoned buildings are themselves creepily hot.

The majority of us who start parkour do not have any classes available like someone living in London on New York would. You just need to get some basic movements and train them at spots around your house or area. As for finding basic techniques, you can find them on youtube. The techniques you want to pick up first are quadrupedal movement, Hang shimmy (I know them as cat traverses, but AKP likes this name better), balancing (both cat and regular), and precision jumps. All of these, when practiced for extended periods of time, can become really good conditioning methods. The good videos show up when you type in parkour after the name of the technique.
