Results from the London 2012 Olympic BMX Time Trials

The much awaited Olympic BMX event got underway today with the opening time trials. These initial runs (which are undertaken by each rider solo) are used to seed the competitors and determine the groupings for the quarterfinals (for the men) and the semifinals (for the women).

The fastest four from the men’s seeding run were van der Biezen of the Netherlands, Daudet of France, van Gendt of the Netherlands and Fields of the USA. The fastest four from the women’s seeding run were Buchanan of Australia, Walker of New Zealand, Pajon of Colombia and le Corguille of France.

Two riders crashed out of the runs and did not finish. They were American competitor Brooke Crain in the women’s run and Edzus Treimanis of Latvia in the men’s run.
