At the age of 47, she was the oldest paddler competing at London 2012. She made it comfortably through the heats and semifinals, despite coming up against athletes half her age and went on to achieve a very respectable time of 1.53.223 in the final, placing her fifth out of sixteen competitors. Josefa Idem is a truly remarkable Olympian.
