Fifth for Gillings at the Penultimate World Cup Stage Qualifiers.

Manx Snowboarder, Zoe Gillings has finished fifth at the penultimate stage qualifiers of the snowboarding world cup, which took place in Stoneham, Canada. This follows up on a fifth place finish at the previous stage of the competition, also held in Canada.

Speaking to the BBC before competing, Zoe Gillings acknowledged that this stage of the competition was likely to be particularly challenging, predicting that it might be “touch and go” for her in places. Despite the risk of a crash, Zoe remained focused on her ultimate objective of a podium finish, which sadly has so far eluded her.

Zoe Gillings is currently ranked fifth in the world. She is seen as one of the country’s brightest prospects for medal success at the 2014 Winter Olympics. In little over a year, Zoe has climbed from 7th place in the snowboarding global rankings to 5th place.
